About Hear Nebraska

Mission Statement


Hear Nebraska is a nonprofit cultural organization that cultivates the state's vibrant, fertile music and arts community. By providing resources and a voice for bands, artists and members of Nebraska’s creative class — as well as the businesses that support them — Hear Nebraska strives to make the state a globally recognized cultural destination.

Board of Directors

Andrew Norman, Director:
The managing editor of The Reader and Omaha City Weekly alternative newsweeklies for five years, Norman earned his bachelor's in journalism at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and his master's in journalism at Michigan State University. Hear Nebraska began as his master's project.
 
Jeremy Buckley:
Founder of the Lincoln Calling music festival, Buckley books and promotes concerts for Posterchild Productions in Lincoln.
 
Tim McMahan:
Tim has been writing about local and national indie music for more than 20 years as a freelance writer, columnist, critic and senior contributing editor at The Reader, Omaha’s arts and entertainment alternative weekly. Tim’s Lazy-i.com website has been an online voice for indie music criticism and reporting since its launch in 1998. Tim also is Senior Manager of Media Technology at Union Pacific, where he’s worked in the company’s Corporate Relations Department since 1995. 
 
Scott Hatfield:
The owner of Duffy's Tavern in Lincoln, Hatfield successfully lead the lobbying effort to convince the city to change bar-closing times to 2 a.m. He is a consistent advocate for and supporter of local music in Nebraska.
