When Scottsbluff, Neb., native Logan Vath sings, "Ain't it like Nebraska to kick you when you're down," it's a line that deserves a bit of explanation.

"Well, I haven't been home in awhile and I'm kind of missing it," he says. "Though it sounds negative, 'Ain't it like Nebraska to kick you when you're down/feed you when you're full' is totally positive to Nebraska. When I'm sad and down, thoughts of home can make it worse and make me wish I was there more than I already did. And if I'm filled up on stress or nostalgia, home feeds me with more."

The video below features the work of Vath's friend from Scottsbluff, Joseph Kozal, who visited the musician where he lives now on the East Coast. The two shot the video on a wobbly canoe in the swamplands of North Carolina.

Vath released his debut album, Better Man or Ghost, on March 8.
