You never know what's going to break.

After a few tries, Josh Miller went ahead without the drum beat that would add that a perfect touch to his cover of Green Trees' "Be All Right." It's Jan. 19 at The Zoo Bar, and Miller is playing among a number of fellow Nebraska musicians covering Nebraska songs, an event we call Take Cover.

With Green Trees' John Freidel standing a few feet from the stage as he played — self-deprecatingly correcting his song title incorrectly as "Barf" or "Fart" — Miller sang the pretty song that he says stands for a time when Freidel was serious about his own music. The "Barf" and the "Fart" indicate otherwise, but with this performance, an original song set aside by its songwriter is brought back to life.
