Dave Evans: Vol. 13 | Frequent Flyers

Welcome to the return and thirteenth installment of Frequent Flyers, where we highlight, document and preserve the art behind music. This week, we feature artist Dave Evans.

"I love all things creative. I usually have my proverbial toe dipped into several projects at the same time," he says.

Evans started designing out of necessity when his employer at the time needed some design work done, and he was the only one available. He made his start the same way many designers do, by creating business cards, brochures and flyers. Once he felt he had a good grasp on design platforms, he began promoting music and comedy shows.

When asked about his inspiration, Evans says: "When it comes to designing posters, I usually get my inspiration from listening to the band's music. I try to stay true to their theme while still injecting my own creative influences.

"If it is a multi-band bill, I usually try to find some common theme among the groups or just design something that will be eye-catching. I find inspirations in all types of art, though. I really enjoy seeking out different styles of art and incorporating them into my designs."

In addition to posters, Evans has been working on larger format pieces. He recently started a new partnership with Brad Stoneking and PWNED Design, a local graphic design company. You can also find his creative work onstage as well, as a singer/songwriter for his band, The Marsh.

With all the endeavers Evans has taken on, a strong support system is important to him. He credits his loving wife, Linda Lichtenwalter-Evans. And if you are looking for a great vegan bakery, she is your gal.
