Since we launched in January 2010, Hear Nebraska has worked hard to produce compelling, high-quality journalism to rebrand Nebraska as, appropriately, a place with rich, unique culture and a writhing, pulsing creative class. We're educating outsiders on our distinctly talented arts community. And we we're slowly helping to foster the same kind of pride Nebraskans have in their football team for their music culture. 

 

We do this entirely through volunteer contributions. Aside from paying a relatively small amount for our initial programming and logo work, Hear Nebraska has never paid its contributors. All of the work you see on our digital pages and on our social media channels everyday is done by volunteers who believe in this mission. This goes for our editors, designers, writers and interns, who trade their time and energy for the opportunity to make a difference.

 

We've done a lot with very little. But as we move into our second full year of existence, we're eager to turn this startup nonprofit into a mature, sustained organization that is producing cutting-edge content and executing first-of-their-kind projects that will turn heads nationally.

 

However, it costs money to run an organization that includes this many moving parts. We have server, hosting, programming and promotion costs that must be paid in order for us to fulfill our mission. And we're as eager as you are for this website do even more of what you want it to do. 

 

So we need your help. Please consider contributing any amount you can afford to Hear Nebraska. Contributors of $15 or more (and if you can, please give more) receive a copy of our inaugural compilation CD, while they last. (See the video above for more info.)
