HERS Drops “Honeybee,” Sticks Together | Video Interview

words, photos and video by Bridget McQuillan

“Bold” is the word the members of Omaha band HERS, formerly known as “Honeybee and Hers,” use to describe the sound of their new album, due out some time next year.

The new sound, coupled with a new band name, is what members Cody Peterson, Rachel Tomlinson Dick, Melissa Amstutz and Ellen Wilde (from left to right in the video below) say represents each of them as musicians on a more complex level. We sat down with HERS to talk about their growth as musicians, their new album and what it’s like to be role models for young, aspiring musicians.

See our interview in the video below, and catch HERS tomorrow night at Hear Nebraska’s Benson First Friday Showcase at the Sydney with Goon Saloon and Rock Paper Dynamite. The event begins at 7 p.m. with a photo showcase, and music starts at 10 p.m. for a $5 cover.
