“How’d You Get So Bad?” by Old Money | Album Premiere

One of the hallmarks of the Nebraska music scene is its family tree.

Not only do a handful of this state's musicians share the same last name, but a great deal more bands share members. Two in particular, Old Money and Satchel Grande, show the inherent similarities and defining differences of two acts taking a slightly different tack while sharing a number of the same musicians.

Old Money leans a little closer to the jazz pop end of the sonic spectrum, though that's not to say the band's forthcoming album, How'd You Get So Bad?, and its genuinely funky name doesn't fall too far from the SG tree. One of the drivers of the difference is that while Chris Klemmensen plays the role of songwriter in Satchel, members Matt McLarney and Adam Johnsen take the lead in Old Money.

Following the release of Old Money's first record, Cat Jail, former drummer Adam Betts handed over the sticks to Carlos Figueroa, also a member of Satchel Grande. Rounding out the group are Andy Kammerer on keys and vocals, Bob Rasgorshek on bass, and Adrian Arriola, the only member not in both SG and Old Money, on saxophone.

Old Money releases How'd You Get So Bad, their second album, on Saturday at Slowdown. The show starts at 9 p.m., and cover is $7. RSVP here.

But first, listen to the album premiered here in its entirety.
