After weeks of impassioned pleas every morning and evening, my friend Logan Vath made the top three of the Martin Guitar Love of my 'Lifespan' Contest meaning it's now up to personnel from C.F. Martin & Co. to determine the grand prize winner. The Scottsbluff native submitted this entry, "Place I've Left My Heart," and compared with the other two, well, this part might be easier than gaining the 10,734 votes that got him here:
Logan's Facebook updates used to be sounding more like this:
"*sigh* Another day - Three days remain and I'm only 200 votes from being kicked out of the top three. Please keep this alive for the remainder of the month, folks. Too much effort has been exhausted to stop now. PLEASE pass this on to your friends and we'll see where it can wind up. Thank you all."
The final night of voting, this is what he was saying:
"'Operation Validation.' T minus 3 hours."
"LET'S GET THE LAST HOUR'S VOTES IN! WE CAN DO THIS! PUSH!"
And so, I'd like to congratulate Logan on a well-fought mission. I'll also post a thank you message below of what he wrote to a number of folks who helped him. Logan is in the Navy, stationed in Virginia, but he tells me he will be moving back to Nebraska within the year. So be sure to support his music when he returns, and in the meantime, listen on SoundCloud and follow him on Facebook.

"So, basically, thank you all so much for your help. It was really awesome to wake up for night watch and see that I had been tagged in 30-40 things everyday. We got a lot of votes. And the good majority of those were honest. An extra thank you to The Gering Citizen, KNEB (especially Dennis and Kevin), and The Star Herald, and Elixir Tattoo for their direct involvement in my song gaining momentum toward the top. If I missed anyone, I'm sorry. There were days when I truly couldn't keep up with the help I was getting."
