“Settle Down, Nebraska (Mike Friedman cover)” by Matt Whipkey | HN Live Video

For Matt Whipkey, it's more than a song that mentions Nebraska. It's more than a country track with a classic style.

It's about an old friend, a roommate, a bandmate.

"Settle Down, Nebraska" represents years of loyalty, collaboration and the kind of inspiration that only comes from an innate understanding of another person.

Introducing the song, Whipkey says it's "written by a friend of mine," a friend named Mike Friedman, whom Whipkey had gotten to know in their Omaha band The Movies and through the years since.

The deeper meaning of the phrase "a friend of mine" reveals itself in Whipkey and bandmate Korey Anderson's reverent performance of what Whipkey calls "one of those classics."
